The South Bay swimming pool. Beautiful, but it was very cold to jump into. Good memories. What a waste of heritage. Scarborough Council was always run by crooks (allegedly). Never mind. Lovely photos.

I saw your pics of the girls doing Tank Girls, I was just wondering roughly how much it would cost for me and a friend to do a shoot similar to that. We are looking to do something kind of ‘ravy’ – we used to be rave heads but we have now grown old and sensible but we have no pics of our wacky costumes from back then. Our idea was to recreate the costumes and maybe get some good pics similar to the Tank Girl theme?
Hoping this is possible.

I was just there at the weekend!

Last time I visited it was still a derelict pool – was surprised to see how it had been filled in an used. Seems a ‘waste of an open space’ but then it is far far away from the madding crowds, so would be hard to commercialise or attract people.

Was fun to see the star map they’ve put into the centre.

Hi Rick, I caught a link to this from Wedge’s Facebook. Such childhood memories can be really powerful and your photos are so poignant. My Grandma used to take me to Southend-on-sea when I was a child and I have some great, happy memories, but I’m scared to go back now as things change so much.
