TECHNIQUE
I have used a variety of different cameras to create my images from 35mm & 120mm medium format, lomography cameras such as the Holga and the Fisheye and back to basic principles with the zero image 35mm pinhole camera as well as a Nikon D300, I currently shoot with Nikon equipment and lenses and have a variety of studio lighting equipment, from Bowens flash units and lastolite fixed modeling lights and a variety of backgrounds.

I work wherever and whenever and can adapt very well in unusual locations, my home studio, on location or your home…..I am at home anywhere!, I produce a very varied range of images and use many different techniques to create the finished product, my photographic style is both unique and recognizable at the same time. I have a background in fine art and a passion for cinematography, which greatly influences my approach to photography, I admire Iconic artists, photographers and film directors such as Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock and David Lynch to name but a few.

I am at ease when directing models and like to relax my clients into the shoot, the best photographs are those in which the subject is clearly at ease and you can see the connection made between the model and photographer, although my shoots are quite meticulously planned and designed, my approach would be very adaptable to improvisation and I develop my creativity with the model on the shoot .
I try to capture as much detail as possible technically on the shoot and experiment with lighting and posing concepts to bring out the best in my subjects and allow myself several different options in the editing process, with digital photography there are no constraints as to the number of shots you can take, you are only limited by time and deadlines, so I try to capture as much as I can in the allocated time.

If you stop shooting when you think you have an image that will do the job, then you are limiting your potential to create great work, I try to cover every possibility on a shoot.
I work to very strong principals whilst shooting and I am creating the final image in my head as I shoot, I try to create all I need for the final image as I am shooting, preferring not to “fix it in Photoshop later” although I do use a great deal of post processing techniques that is not the be all and end all of the images I create.

I photo finish the majority of my work within Adobe Lightroom and rarely use photoshop to change images dramatically rather just to colour correct and blend compositions together, I want my images to reflect an element of realism even if the concept is other worldly, I want people to look at my images and take them at face value, but also to question themselves as to how something was done!

Creating the Perfect shot takes a great deal of time and patience!

working on location with make-up artists, stylist’s and models is both fun and challenging!
