lovely set of photos which bring back some nice memories.
even semi derelict this was a lovely part of scarborough but

I was born in Scarborough just up the cliff from the south bay pool and I spent all my summer holidays at my grandparents house on the south cliff from 1948 – 1965 we had a bungalow first overlooking the sands then as we got older overlooking the pool. Yes the water was always cold 58F to 64F max but wonderful memories. It’s very sad to see it go along with all the bungalows but we don’t have holidays like those anymore where we kids played all day on the sands or in the pool.

I was watching A Touch Of Frost, in the episode Deep Waters, the South Bay Pool at Scarborough is used in one scene. I thought I’d look it up and am sad to see it is no more. It was beautiful even in ruins. I’m glad to see Rome doesn’t take this attitude :)

The South Bay swimming pool. Beautiful, but it was very cold to jump into. Good memories. What a waste of heritage. Scarborough Council was always run by crooks (allegedly). Never mind. Lovely photos.

I was just there at the weekend!

Last time I visited it was still a derelict pool – was surprised to see how it had been filled in an used. Seems a ‘waste of an open space’ but then it is far far away from the madding crowds, so would be hard to commercialise or attract people.

Was fun to see the star map they’ve put into the centre.
